Mataya speaks about the part of cancer nobody prepares you for — survivorship.
As the creator of You Survived! Now What?, she's developing a framework for life after cancer — one that speaks to anyone rebuilding after disruption— that names what survivors actually go through: the false finish line, the identity shift, and the long project of rebuilding a life that fits the person you've become. She covers everything from mental health and body image to redefining purpose and finding joy — with the kind of humor that only comes from lived experience.
She has partnered with organizations including Stupid Cancer, Cedars-Sinai, and the Young Survival Coalition, with a particular focus on the AYA (adolescent and young adult) community, and has brought her perspective to broadcast news and health media nationwide.
